John Bradley Miller - 11th

Brad Miller joined Reeds Volunteer Fire Department as a Jr. Firefighter in 1981. This was the first group of the Jr. Firefighter's Program. He became a Fireman in 1985. His ranks have included Training Officer, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and he became Chief in 2001. He has served on the Board of Directors, and was chosen "Fireman of the Year" in 1989, 1991, and 2001. He retired in 2016.

William Swicegood - 10th

10/97 - 10/01

Bill joined the Reeds Fire Department in 1969. He served as Lieutenant from 1973 to 1975, Captain from 1975 to 1993, and Assistant Chief from 1993 to 1997. He became Chief in 1997 and served until 2001. During his years with the Department he was a Board Member of the Firemen's Relief Fund, and Treasurer of the Reeds Firemen's Fund in 1994. He was a faithful leader of the 4-H Fire School for thirty years. Bill became an EMT in 1982. He has been on the Truck and Building Committees, Board of Directors, and Haz-Mat Operation. He was voted "Fireman of the Year" in 1980, 1993, 1994 and 1996.

Roger Koontz - 9th

10/93 - 10/97

Roger joined Reeds Fire Department as a volunteer fireman in 1974. His accomplishments include serving as Lieutenant from May of 1988 to 1990, Captain in 1991, and Assistant Chief in 1992 under Chief Leon Swicegood. Roger was appointed Chief of the Department in October 1993 and served as Assistant Chief under Chief William Swicegood. He was chosen Fireman of the year by his fellow firefighters in 1979, 1992, and 1999. He retired from the Department in 2006.

Leon Swicegood - 8th

10/20/86 - 10/93

Leon Swicegood became an active firefighter in 1970 with Reeds Volunteer Volunteer Fire Department. He has served the Department in the capacity of Captain, and Assistant Chief under the direction of Chief Junie Smith. He was appointed Chief 1986 - 1993. He worked with the 4-H Fire School for a number of years, served on Fire Truck Committees, an served on the Board of Directors several times, being Vice-President during one term. He was voted Fireman of the Year in 1981 and 1983. Leon retired from the Department in 2002 after 32 years of service.

Dan Atwood - 7th

11/85 - 10/20/86

Dan Atwood has been an active Fireman of the Reeds Fire Department for a number of years. During this time, he has served as a faithful Traffic Officer for the Department, and was appointed Chief in 1985 by the Board of Directors and served until 1986. He has also been on the Board of Directors.

Junie Smith - 6th

05/9/83 - 10/10/85

Junie Smith joined the Reeds Fire Department as a Volunteer Fireman. During his years in the Department, he served as Captain, and served as Assistant Chief from 1977 to 1983 under Chief Odell Miller. He was appointed Chief of the Department in 1983 and served until October of 1985. He was chosen as Fireman of the Year in 1978, and has been on the Board of Directors.

John Odell Miller - 5th

06/20/77 - 05/09/83

Odell joined the Reeds Fire Department in the fall of 1965 as a volunteer fireman. He served as Lieutenant from 1972 - 1977, also serving as Secretary to the Board of Directors during that time. He was Fire Chief from 1977 - 1983. Other accomplishments included being Assistant Chief under the direction of Chief Forrest Michael, Treasurer of the Fire Department for three years, and President of the Board of Directors for total of eight years. He was an active participant in the 4-H Fire Training Program and received the Fireman of the Year Award in 1982.

Odell served on the Building Committee and was Chief during the construction of the Fire Station and served on the Truck Committees of all the fire trucks purchased. He was instrumental in helping Reeds Fire Department become a member of the State Firemen's Association which qualified the firemen for the Relief Fund. The Jr. Firemen's Program was formed during the time Odell was Chief. He retired from the Fire Department at age 55 in the fall of 1999 after 35 years of service.

Forrest Michael - 4th

12/26/72 - 06/20/77

Forrest M. Michael became a Charter Member of Reeds Fire Department in 1953. He served as an active fireman under the direction of Chief Ervin Leonard and also Chief Lester "Demps" Koontz. Forrest then became Line Captain under the direction of Chief Joe Wood before becoming Assistant Chief. He then served as Chief of the Department from 1972 until his retirement in 1977. During this time he purchase of the property near the intersection of Highway 150 and U.S. 64 was made where the current fire station now stands.

During his approximate 25 years in the Department, Forrest M. Michael has also served for several years as Director on the committee to install "hot lines" to each of the firemen's homes, Department Secretary & Treasurer, and on the committees to purchase two of the fire trucks.

Joe Wood - 3rd

11/04/57 - 12/26/72

Joe Wood was a Charter Member and helped in the organization of Reeds Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Chief of the Department from November 1957 until December of 1972. The original Fire Department was housed in Joe's Garage. He was assisted by his wife, Ora, in setting off the alarms to alert the firemen of a call. He retired from the Department with 24 years of service to his community.

Lester (Demps) Koontz - 2nd

9/54 - 11/04/57

Demps and his wife Druzilla owned and operated an upholstery and grocery store. After his furniture business and part of his grocery store were destroyed by fire in 1953, he helped organize the Reeds Volunteer Fire Department. He was a charter member and served as a fireman for his first year. He became Chief of the Department in September of 1954 and remained Chief until November of 1957.

Ervin C. Leonard - 1st

11/23/53 - 09/54

Ervin Leonard was instrumental in helping to organize Reeds Volunteer Fire Department. He was the first Fire Chief, serving from 1953 - 1954. He left Reeds Fire Department after only one year to help organize West Lexington Fire Department. He was owner and operator of Leonard Machine Shop.
